Overview

The Program Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and evaluation of patient education programs at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Working with clinical teams and other partners, this role helps ensure that patients and families receive clear, consistent, accessible information to support their care and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development, review, approval, and maintenance of patient education materials and programs in collaboration with clinical subject matter experts.

  • Maintains an organized inventory of patient education resources, including review dates, content owners, and approved versions.

  • Supports teams in using consistent processes and standards for patient education across care settings.

  • Reviews materials for plain language, accessibility, and suitability for patients with varying health literacy needs; coordinate translation and interpretation needs’ through established processes.

  • Gathers feedback from patients, families, and staff and use it to identify opportunities to improve education resources and delivery.

  • Tracks program activity and measures, prepare reports, and share findings with the manager and relevant teams.

  • Coordinates meetings, timelines, communications, and training related to patient education initiatives.

  • Partners with clinical, quality, digital, and operational teams to make approved education resources available through appropriate channels.

  • Performs other duties related to patient education programs as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health education, nursing, public health, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Two years of experience coordinating programs, projects, or educational resources in a healthcare or related setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize multiple projects, manage deadlines, and work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to help translate complex information into clear, patient-friendly language.

  • Working knowledge of health literacy principles and accessible communication.

  • Proficiency with common office applications and the ability to learn systems used to manage educational content and program data.

  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills essential.

  • Must be a highly organized self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under numerous academic and administrative deadlines.

  • Strong ability to prioritize is essential as is the ability to adjust to changing demands and work under pressure.

  • Some financial budgeting and management experience required with accuracy and meticulous attention to detail essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with a team or independently with little supervision.

  • Strong computing skills required with extensive experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to maintain data accurately. Excellent keyboarding and proofreading skills required.

  • Must be adept with using audio-visual equipment including audience response systems or able to show acuity with similar learning systems.
