Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Building Adjuster for a public adjusting firm in the Massachusetts and New Hampshire market. As a Building Adjuster you will be responsible for evaluating and managing the building damage portion of property insurance claims. This includes conducting on-site inspections, collaborating with our Claims Adjusters, estimating repair and reconstruction costs, collaborating with contractors and consultants, preparing detailed reports and estimates, and negotiating settlements with insurance carriers. You will also assist in coordinating repairs, interpreting policy language, and ensuring the client’s property is restored accurately and fairly. Our firm represents policyholders through the full lifecycle of residential and commercial property claims—primarily fire and water losses—across Boston, NH, and Vermont.
- Ability to work in-office 1-2x/mo and in the field conducting inspections (70% in New Hampshire, 30% in Massachusetts)
- Comfort managing large losses (e.g., $600K+ claims)
- You will handle approximately 150 assigned adjustments per year
- Typical claims are ire and water loss in a range of 100K – 10 Million (majority of claims in 250K – 1 Million range)
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect properties and assess building damage resulting from events such as fire, water, storm, or structural losses.
- Determine cause, scope, and value of damages.
- Review estimates, invoices, and supporting documentation.
- Interpret policy coverage and apply policy terms to claim decisions.
- Negotiate settlements with insureds, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain detailed claim files and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Skills and Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with Estimation
- Experience handling claims up to 1 million
- Experience handling residential or commercial property claims
- Expertise with Xactimate
- Xactimate Certification
- Client facing personality fit
- IIRC Certification (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification)
- Other Certs: o WRT – Water Restoration Technician o FSRT – Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician o AMRT – Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (mold) o OCT – Odor Control Technician o ASD – Applied Structural Drying
