Die Maker

Hourly Position | Permanent 2nd Shift | Train on 1st Shift

Mechanically inclined and enjoy building, troubleshooting, and working with precision? Turn those skills into a specialized career at Quad.

Quad is hiring a Die Maker to support our specialty packaging operation. In this hands-on role, you'll build and maintain the tooling used to produce folding cartons, corrugated packaging, labels, inserts, and other printed products.

You'll work with structural designers and manufacturing teams to create accurate, high-quality dies that keep production running efficiently.

Schedule: This is a long-term 2nd-shift position. Training will take place on 1st shift before transitioning to your regular 2nd-shift schedule.

Job Type: Full-time, hourly

What You'll Do

  • Build die boards using the Gerber Profile

  • Operate the rule bender to produce finished dies

  • Rubber and pre-press dies for production

  • Build new dies and modify existing tooling

  • Verify tooling dimensions and specifications for accuracy

  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and support production needs

  • Maintain die inventory, records, and revision documentation

  • Keep dies and tooling organized and production-ready

  • Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to understand measurements, specifications, and manufacturing instructions

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to follow job instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to train on 1st shift and transition to a long-term 2nd-shift schedule

Preferred: One or more years of experience working with die cutters or making die-cutting dies. Experience in packaging, printing, converting, tooling, machining, or similar manufacturing environments is also valuable.
