Accounting Assistant / Staff Accountant Track (Contract with Potential for Long-Term Opportunity)

A growing construction-related organization is seeking an accounting professional to provide transitional support during an upcoming department change. The immediate need is for a contract resource who can step in quickly, assist with knowledge transfer, and help maintain continuity across key accounting functions.

The immediate need is project-based, making this a strong opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys stepping in and making an impact during periods of change. For someone interested in a longer-term opportunity, there may also be potential for the role to evolve into broader responsibilities across payroll, invoicing, month-end support, and general accounting.

What You'll Do

  • Process and enter accounts payable invoices

  • Match invoices to projects and supporting documentation

  • Assist with weekly check runs

  • Create and process customer invoices

  • Support inventory and project tracking activities

  • Reconcile vendor and fuel statements

  • Maintain accounting files and records

  • Track subcontractor documentation and W-9s

  • Assist with monthly customer statements

  • Answer incoming calls and support office operations

  • Cross-train in additional accounting functions as business needs evolve

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or AP experience

  • Strong Accounts Payable background

  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Enterprise preferred

  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred

  • Construction industry experience is helpful but not required
