We're seeking an experienced Highway/Bridge Project Manager to help grow our Transportation practice by leading the successful delivery of complex highway, bridge, and roadway projects while expanding client relationships and pursuing new business opportunities.

In this selling and delivering role, focused on the greater Sacramento region, you'll serve as both a trusted advisor and project leader, managing multidisciplinary teams, delivering high-quality infrastructure projects, and partnering with state, regional, and local transportation agencies to support community growth. You'll leverage your project management expertise, client relationships, and business development experience to drive project success and contribute to Jacobs' continued growth in the California transportation market.

  • Serve as Project Manager for state and federal freeway interchange, state highway, local bridge, local complete streets, and other transportation infrastructure projects.

  • Lead multidisciplinary design and delivery teams including roadway, structures, traffic, drainage, environmental, utilities, right-of-way, and construction support disciplines.

  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk, and profitability.

  • Ensure successful delivery of projects from planning and environmental clearance through design and construction support.

  • Support alternative delivery methods including Design-Build (DB), Progressive Design-Build (PDB), Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC), and Program Management (PM) contracts.

  • Collaborate with technical leaders to provide innovative, practical solutions that meet client objectives.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Caltrans, regional transportation authorities, counties, and cities throughout Northern California.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new and expanded work with existing and prospective clients.

  • Lead client engagement activities, strategic account planning, and business development initiatives.

  • Participate in opportunity identification, capture planning, and sales strategy development.

  • Lead and support proposal preparation, fee development, and interview presentations.

  • Represent Jacobs at industry conferences, professional organizations, and client events.

  • Contribute to transportation market growth and annual sales objectives.

  • Mentor and develop project managers, engineers, and transportation professionals.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and technical excellence.

  • Support recruiting, staff development, and succession planning efforts.

  • Promote Jacobs' commitment to safety, quality, and client service.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; California PE strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive transportation infrastructure experience.

  • Demonstrated experience managing freeway, highway, bridge, interchange, or complete street projects.

  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and delivering projects on schedule and within budget.

  • Strong client relationships in the greater Sacramento region and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated business development, pursuit, or seller-doer experience within the transportation market.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills.

Ideally, You'll Also Have

  • 15+ years of transportation consulting experience.

  • Existing relationships with Caltrans, transportation authorities, counties, and cities clients in the greater Sacramento region.

  • Experience serving as Project Manager on transportation programs and projects exceeding $10M in construction value.

  • Alternative delivery experience including DB, PDB, CM/GC, and PM contracts.

  • Experience leading successful project pursuits, proposals, and client presentations.

  • Knowledge of Caltrans, County, and City design standards, project development processes, and transportation funding programs.

  • Experience contributing to transportation market growth and revenue generation.

Preferred Client Experience

  • Experience working with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)

  • California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 10

  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG)

  • Sacramento Transportation Authority (STA)

  • City and County of Sacramento

  • Placer County Transportation Planning Agency (PCTPA)

  • Nevada County Transportation Commission (NCTC)

  • El Dorado County Transportation Commission (EDCTC)

  • Yolo County Transportation District (YCTD)

  • Cities, counties, and other regional transportation agencies in Northern California
