FOX44 Waco TX is looking for a passionate, creative, and driven Sports Director to lead our sports coverage across broadcast, digital, CTV and social platforms. This is an opportunity to become the trusted voice of sports in Central Texas.

We're seeking a dynamic storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at building community connections, and is eager to produce compelling content that informs, engages, and inspires viewers and audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce, report, write, and anchor sports content under deadline for television, digital, and social media platforms.

  • Deliver accurate, engaging coverage while maintaining high standards of journalism and production quality.

  • Cover breaking sports news and major sporting events.

  • Shoot, edit, and manage video content for broadcasts and digital channels.

  • Develop story ideas, research topics, and coordinate comprehensive sports coverage.

  • Write and publish content for the station website and digital platforms.

  • Engage with viewers and audiences through social media and community appearances.

  • Maintain video equipment and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Strong knowledge of sports, sports culture and sports-related topics.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent on-air presentation skills.

  • Prefer minimum two years of sports /news reporting experience (market-dependent).

  • Proficiency with newsroom technology, computer systems, and standard office equipment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Team-oriented with excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Pre-employment background screening required.
