Position Summary: Provides direct patient care to the adult and geriatric patient population under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Utilizes the nursing process while demonstrating behaviors that support McLaren Port Huron’s Values. Functions within a Team setting.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Contributes to the assessment of the patient’s physical and psychological needs and strengths in a comprehensive manner.

  2. Contributes to the individualized nursing care plan of patients.

  3. Contributes to the implementation of the patient’s plan of care.

  4. Contributes to the evaluation of the adult and geriatric patient’s plan of care.

  5. Contributes to the management and efficient operation of the nursing unit.

  6. Demonstrates commitment to personal career growth and competency.

  7. Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse program

  • Current Michigan license for a Practical Nurse

  • BLS and/or Canadian Equivalent

Preferred:

  • One (1) year of experience in a medical setting

  • One (1) year of experience in behavioral health

  • Experience specific to the unit/position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Nursing skills as defined in the laws governing the practice of licensed practical nursing in the state of Michigan.
