What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Coordinate all safety activities in the field.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure all training/orientation, safety, and health policies are followed by site workers

  • Attend daily kick off meetings to communicate key safety messages

  • Facilitate the safety audit process

  • Identify injury/incident potential indicators and recommend corrective actions

  • Coordinate general shutdown rescue/emergency services

  • Develop confined space rescue plans

  • Ensure confined space rescue plans are communicated

  • Lead all JSA development

  • Inform EHS Manager of any incidents in a timely manner

  • Recommend work stoppage (inclement weather, security, emergencies, safety issues, etc.)

  • Manage Area Safety Teams as designated

  • Ensure security, traffic, and industrial park procedures are followed

  • Provide key EHS data/input for daily EHS communications

  • Manage housekeeping during shutdown event

  • Oversight responsibility for developing and administering Lucite and contractor shutdown orientation, safety, health, environmental, security, and training program

  • Coordinate site orientation record keeping program

  • Make sure every contractor has the proper training/orientation prior to start of shutdown

  • Ensure proper safety documentation is maintained for all contractors

  • Make sure proper safety information is given to all contractors

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Public Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.

Experience: This position requires 10+ years of relevant construction safety management required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Generally responsible for managing all aspects of safety on a construction site including site specific Construction Safety Plans, orientation of contractors, ensuring that contractors complete daily JHA’s, safety chats, permits and frequent site inspections to ensure that all safe work practices are followed. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of rules, regulations, client and company requirements for Health and Safety including OSHA regulations.

  • Working knowledge of construction Safety principles and practices.

  • Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.

  • Extreme attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and/or projects efficiently and effectively.

  • Ability to perform work on an HSE project as directed, conduct required activities, maintain required documentation, and construct a meaningful report of activities.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.

  • Ability to climb ladders or perform duties utilizing a safety harness while working at elevated heights.

  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs while carrying equipment.

  • Ability to perform work outdoors or in process units in hot or cold climates.

  • Ability to perform duties within confined spaces for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.

Other:

Per-diem at the going GSA rate is offered to those who qualify and can be discussed.
