What You'll Do

Epic Games is in the business of creating fun games we want to play and building the art and tools we need to bring those games to life. We iterate to improve everything, every day: our games, our technology, our processes, even our workspaces and people. This unrelenting focus on innovation and quality defines us.

Our QA Engineers work with product owners, developers, and QA management to define acceptance criteria, identify risks, and plan testing coverage for upcoming features and releases. QA Engineers develop and implement automation utilizing technical tooling, including Al, to expand QA coverage across multiple features. You will facilitate functional, qualitative, and performance testing efforts while using a mix of technical testing skills across your product space to analyze and report on quality. At the senior level the expectation is to be able to work in a highly autonomous environment within the gameplay pillar while regularly keeping stakeholders informed of potential quality risks.

In this role, you will

  • Examine technical gaps and automation initiatives to ensure quality for both Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) developer tools and build

  • Build and drive test strategies and test plans to cover multiple features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

  • Use a mix of technical and manual QA skills to execute a variety of testing techniques across the product to analyze quality while discovering or troubleshooting reported defects and internal issues

  • Leverage Al-assisted tools to speed up test plan, automation, and strategy where possible

  • Report and track data quality and use that data to drive conversations around product quality and development health, supporting the dev team before, during, and after deployments

  • Test communications between the client and backend services

What we're looking for

  • Strong experience and demonstrated skills in writing test automation or QA tools, as well as reading code or scripts in multiple languages (C++/C#/Python)

  • Experience developing test plans and risk mitigation strategies

  • Experience using Al tools and judgement about when their output can be trusted

  • QA cross team project or feature leadership, including mentoring more junior employees, providing cross team QA plans, and owning test quality improvements - gap analysis or optimization efforts

  • QA Engineer skills & strengths at a senior level, which includes, strong communication skills and ability to confidently collaborate with stakeholders and with partner teams, the ability to provide mentorship and lead projects, and deliver high quality work products; looks for and suggests ways to improve / optimize/close testing gaps
