Full job description

NATIONWIDE BELTING SALES & SERVICES, INC. POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Production Planner / Scheduler Department: Operations --- Fabrication Location: Genoa, Ohio (Corporate Headquarters) Reports To: Operations Manager / President Status: Full-Time, Salaried --- Exempt Direct Reports: None (functional authority over shop schedule) Schedule: Mon--Fri, day shift; occasional evening/weekend for emergency service Travel: Regular --- weekly presence at the Pemberville fabrication warehouse POSITION SUMMARY The Production Planner / Scheduler owns the flow of work through the Nationwide Belting fabrication operation --- from the moment a customer order is released by the CSR team through material availability, shop scheduling, and on-time shipment. This position is equally responsible for the material that feeds the shop: master roll and component inventory levels, reorder points, remnant utilization, cycle count accuracy, and the purchasing signals that keep the floor supplied without tying up working capital in slow-moving stock. Nationwide Belting fabricates to order. Custom endless belts, HF-welded monolithic belting, cleated and sidewall constructions, and specialty splice work each carry different setup requirements, cure or weld times, and machine constraints. The person in this role has to see the whole board --- what is promised, what is possible, and what is in the rack --- and keep those three things aligned every day. Emergency service work is a permanent feature of this business, not an exception; the schedule must be built with the flexibility to absorb a same-day breakdown job without collapsing the rest of the week. This position is based at the Genoa corporate office, working alongside the CSR and purchasing functions, and schedules production at the Pemberville fabrication warehouse approximately fifteen miles away. Managing a shop from another building is the central challenge of the role. It requires a regular physical presence at Pemberville --- not a weekly visit, but enough time on the floor and in the racks to know what is actually there and how the work is actually running. A planner who schedules Pemberville entirely from a screen in Genoa will schedule it wrong. This is a high-visibility role. Nearly every commitment the company makes to a distributor or OEM customer runs through this desk. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Production Planning & Scheduling Convert released customer orders into shop work orders with complete specifications: belt type, width, length, splice method, cleat and sidewall configuration, punching, lacing, tracking guides, and finishing requirements. Build and maintain the daily and weekly production schedule across all work centers --- slitting and cutting, HF welding, vulcanizing press, cleat and profile welding, punching, lacing and finishing --- sequencing jobs to minimize changeover and maximize material yield. Schedule against real capacity, accounting for machine availability, setup and cure times, tooling and die availability, and labor coverage by skill. Identify capacity constraints in advance and escalate before they become missed ship dates. Maintain a realistic promise-date process. Provide the CSR team with achievable ship dates at time of quote or order entry, and communicate immediately when a date is at risk. Insert and re-sequence emergency and breakdown service work with minimum disruption, and communicate the downstream impact of every expedite to the CSR team and affected customers. Release work orders
