Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support our Dallas engineering team. If selected, you will be part of the Hardware Team supporting the development of rugged commercial products along with full military compliant products. You will work under general direction to apply industry practices and technical standards to the development of high-reliability electronics within a cohesive, multi-disciplinary team.

Key responsiblities include:

Technical Execution: Apply a broad understanding of electrical engineering concepts and industry standards to translate system requirements into effective printed board assembly (PBA) designs.

Design & Development: Create board schematics and provide layout direction (ie. component placement strategies, stack up decisions, high speed routing constraints, etc.) and work closely with the PCB design team to review layout drafts, verify signal/power integrity rules and approve final board files before release.

Problem Solving: Develop technical solutions for a variety of problems of increasing scope and complexity, utilizing prototyping and trade studies to down-select critical components and optimize electronic architectural solutions (SWAP).

Verification: Document design verification tests and design review documentation, ensuring accuracy and adequacy of results for peer and supervisory review.

Project Accountability: Take accountability for the completion of assigned projects and goals, ensuring that deliverables are met to avoid program schedule delays or the need for additional resource allocation.

Collaboration: Coordinate primarily with internal team members and customer site contacts to ensure design alignment and technical integration.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a related industry (e.g., defense, electronics) or entry-level with a Master s degree.

Sound understanding of industry practices, techniques, and standards regarding digital, analog, power, and mixed-signal electronics.

Familiarity with interface/communication standards such as UART, SPI, QSPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, or PCIe.

Experience with technical documentation, requirements capture and transfer to manufacturing.

Proficiency in testing and troubleshooting analog, digital, and power supply-based circuits in a lab setting using standard equipment (oscilloscopes, bench supplies, spectrum analyzers, function generators, logic analyzers).

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience with LabVIEW (or comparable testautomation) for hardware verification and debugging.

Experience with PCB/CCA design for 3U or 6U VPX or other standard form factors.

Experience with the SOSA standard for 3U and 6U VPX module design.

Familiarity designing with FPGAs, System-On-Chips (SoC), and/or CPLDs using VHDL and/or Verilog.

Experience designing and writing embedded software for microcontroller-based systems and modules.

Knowledge of system-level EMI mitigation techniques and proper grounding/shielding architecture.

Experience with high-speed mixed-signal HDI PCB design, including constraints management and routing for interfaces with lane rates up to 25Gbps.

Understanding of SPICE simulators and simulation methods (e.g., LTSpice, TINA, PSpice).

Experience with advanced PCB/CCA design features: micro-vias, blind/buried vias, via-in-pad, controlled impedances, back drilling, and high pin count/fine-pitch BGAs.

Familiarity with Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) as they apply to layout techniques.

Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance Secret.
