POSITION SUMMARY
The tooling designer is responsible for the development and design of jigs, fixtures, and machines that aid in the manufacture of product and/or verification of product. This individual works closely with Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering teams to develop tooling from concept through final production/testing phase.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design jigs, fixtures, and machines that help manufacture product or verify product, for use both inside LSI and at outside vendors.

Work with Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering to take tooling from concept through final production and testing.

Create detail drawings used to manufacture parts both internally and externally.

Apply lean manufacturing methods to tooling design to cut lead time and cost while improving quality.

Design robotic weld fixtures and machine builds that support production and custom work.

Troubleshoot fixture issues on the shop floor and adjust designs so parts flow and meet print.

Train staff on new jigs, fixtures, and machines so the work runs safely and efficiently.

Lend technical support to other tooling staff on the design and assembly of jigs, fixtures, and machines.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical design or a related field.
-
Strong mechanical aptitude with 5+ years of related experience.

Experience in tooling and fixture development and design.

Experience in machine build development and design.

Experience designing robotic weld fixtures.

5+ years of CAD design experience.

Able to read and work from conceptual drawings, sketches, and layout drawings.

Clear communication skills to understand the needs of internal customers and present information to managers.
The target hourly range is $35.00 - $43.00, depending upon qualifications and experience. The posted pay range reflects the expected compensation for a fully qualified candidate. Starting pay may be above or below this range based on job-related factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and training needs.
In addition to hourly pay, the compensation package also includes eligibility for profit-sharing and monthly bonus opportunity. Additionally, for eligible full-time employees, we offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits; paid time off and paid holidays; 401(k) retirement plan and employee stock ownership plan.
Employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background screening, conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
