Full job description

About the role

As a Quality Assurance Engineer II, you’ll apply standard and advanced quality engineering principles, techniques, and procedures to complex technical problems, working in a professional, productive, and creative way. You’ll work independently on routine tasks and get general direction on new assignments. You’ll partner closely with manufacturing, design engineering, and product management to make sure new and existing products meet Southco’s and our customers’ quality standards. This is an exempt, individual contributor role with no direct reports.

What you will be doing

  • Completing and submitting PPAPs to customers, and working with suppliers to improve and approve the PPAPs they submit to Southco.

  • Preparing first piece inspection reports and initial sample submissions for all new products, following any customer-specific requirements.

  • Creating, issuing, and maintaining control plans for new products.

  • Processing customer complaints, including problem solving and corrective and preventive actions.

  • Working with manufacturing and engineering to resolve internal and external quality problems.

  • Taking part in the APQP process for new product introductions.

  • Partnering with design engineering, product management, and manufacturing engineering to launch new products.

  • Helping enforce Southco’s corporate quality assurance policies and procedures.

How you will be making an impact

  • Customers get fast responses and immediate corrective action when quality issues come up.

  • New products launch smoothly and on schedule because quality is built in through APQP, control plans, and first-article validation.

  • The quality of incoming parts improves as you strengthen supplier PPAPs and approvals.

  • You drive continuous improvement through corrective and preventive actions that stop problems from coming back.

  • You help Southco deliver on schedule and within budget while upholding its quality standards.

About you

Required:

  • BS in Engineering or an equivalent degree.

  • 3+ years of relevant technical experience (co-op experience counts).

  • Working knowledge of quality engineering techniques, processes, and products.

  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn Southco’s business and quality systems.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • A strong focus on safety and quality.

  • Ability to maintain good vision on a continuous basis, including 20/40 vision (corrected), depth perception, and color discrimination.

Preferred:

  • Six Sigma experience.

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.

  • Knowledge of the Southco product line.

How will we reward you

Southco offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, along with the opportunity to put your fingerprints on every major product launch across the company. As part of this role you can expect:

  • Competitive base salary and performance-based incentives

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage

  • Retirement savings plan with company contribution

  • Paid time off and holidays

  • Opportunities for professional growth within a global marketing organization

  • Direct, high-visibility partnership with Product Management, Sales, and Industry Marketing leaders

  • A dynamic role with variety — from strategic launch planning to hands-on campaign execution
