Recreation Specialist (#014300) Kershaw Correctional Inst, Kershaw (LANCASTER) Level 2

• Plan, coordinate, develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive recreation plan that identifies activities for the entire institutional inmate population.

• Conduct physical fitness, wellness and health education classes.

• Coordinate volunteers and community resources to assist in these areas.

• Select, train and provide daily supervision of the inmate recreation assistants, initiate and supervise tournament activities, supervise hobbycraft programs and IRC program.

• Design and implement recreation program for the special needs inmate population.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: High school diploma and relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, therapeutic recreation or a related field can be substituted for experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and two (2) years’ experience in the recreation field.

• A bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, therapeutic recreation or a related field can be substituted for experience.
