The Registered Nurse position with the Department of Corrections offers the chance to deliver important health services to individuals with medical and behavioral needs at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Cambridge Springs. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position provides nursing care and treatment for individuals with physical or mental health needs in a correctional setting. The role supports daily medical operations through assessments, medication administration, emergency response, and accurate documentation. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties: 1. Care Delivery: Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with daily living activities 2. Health Assessment: Evaluate patient conditions and support physicians during examinations 3. Emergency Response: Provide first aid, CPR, and other care in urgent medical situations 4. Record Management: Update medical files, prepare reports, and maintain controlled substance logs 5. Supply Maintenance: Sterilize instruments, track inventory, and support treatment area readiness 6. Communication Support: Share medical information with custody staff and assist with shift reports Interested in learning more? The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 3. These shifts include 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM). 4. Your work schedule is to be determined. 5. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs. 6. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. 7. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 8. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $89,882.00 (before taxes). 9.
