Full job description

The Director of Early College at LSUS serves as a strategic and academic leader responsible for driving the expansion, implementation, and academic quality of the university’s rapidly growing Dual Enrollment (DE) and Academic Excellence (AEP) programs. The Director acts as the primary university liaison for external partner school districts, ensures strict academic quality and accreditation compliance (SACS and NACEP), and serves as the lead administrative developer for new high school initiatives. The Director manages operational, instructional, and administrative processes, collaborating closely with Admissions, Accounting, Records, and academic departments to streamline workflows and support student retention. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences. Travel to regional partner schools is required to facilitate site visits, advisory sessions, and professional development. The successful candidate might occasionally be invited to teach a course in their discipline.   • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

  • Three years of experience in Early College administration or teaching, educational administration, K-12 relations, program coordination, or academic affairs.

  • Ability to collaborate across academic and administrative units to achieve institutional goals.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to Caddo/Bossier schools. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

  • Experience managing Dual Enrollment or Early College programs.

  • Knowledge of higher education accreditation, compliance, and quality assurance processes.

  • Ability to work both independently and effectively with multiple stakeholders. Core Competencies:

Physical and Environmental Demands Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree or when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling even though the weight of those materials is negligible. Duties & Responsibilities: Academic Quality, Compliance, and Onboarding

  • Ensure all high school Dual Enrollment and Early College programs comply with SACS and NACEP accreditation standards.

  • Manage new teacher credentialing, vetting, and academic onboarding, ensuring that all off-site instructors meet necessary accreditation requirements.

  • Assign dedicated faculty liaisons to Dual Enrollment teachers and assist in providing discipline-specific training and onboarding materials before the academic year begins.

  • Develop professional development opportunities for faculty liaisons, executing training programs at least twice per academic year.

  • Coordinate site visits and manage approval processes for new partner schools.

  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences on curriculum alignment and academic policy enforcement. Program Administration, Operations, and Workflow

  • Establish and continuously optimize workflows for all Early College processes, coordinating directly with Admissions, Accounting, and the Registrar’s Office to streamline cross-departmental communication.

  • Review and update the Early College Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) annually to ensure operational adherence across all partnerships.

  • Coordinate and execute major program events, including Dual Enrollment Professional Development and Dual Enrollment Day.

  • Oversee registration, course planning, and student tracking metrics, ensuring accurate enrollment reporting and program data compilation.

  • Manage financial administrative processes, including payroll processing for Dual Enrollment teachers and prompt compensation processing for faculty liaisons.

  • Process official student paperwork, including student course withdrawals, following appropriate registrar guidelines. K-12 Partnerships, Advising, and Student Engagement

  • Build and nurture strong institutional partnerships with regional high schools, districts, and school systems.

  • Travel to partner high schools to meet with, present to, and advise prospective Academic Excellence Program (AEP) students.

  • Coordinate with partner schools to ensure the prompt, accurate, and secure submission of student registration materials to the Admissions Office.

  • Represent LSUS at Board of Regents Dual Enrollment workshops and NACEP annual conferences to maintain awareness of regional/national trends.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for high school administrators, counselors, parents, and students navigating the college-transition pipeline. Other special projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned.
