Project Manager University of South Carolina Upstate STA Spartanburg, SC
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities Management Department, serves as project manager with responsible oversight for design and execution of minor and major capital construction and renovation projects. Will work closely with USC Upstate stakeholders as well as the Office of State Engineer and USC Columbia Department of Planning, Design and Construction to execute capital projects on the campus of USC Upstate.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering and 5 years of project management experience including considerable experience with design and construction and management of major construction projects with renovation components. Knowledge of principles and practices of architecture, design engineering, landscape architecture and facility construction to include through understanding of construction means, methods, schedules with demonstrated ability to provide quality control observations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
A successful background check is and good driving record is required. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the construction and modification of facilities with renovation components. Knowledge of contract procedures, bidding procedures, architectural agreements and inspection procedures. Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing architectural or civil engineering project management for building construction or facility renovation projects with renovation components. Ability to oversee the work of subordinate engineers, architects, contractors and building equipment vendors. Ability to establish positive working relationships with customers, superiors, subordinates, associates, design and construction consultants, state, local and federal professional personnel and other public and private sector organizations and individuals. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to prepare, review and revise plans and specifications. Ability to problem solve and utilize conscious decision making. Ability to build teams and involve stakeholders.
