AFSIM Developer (Mid-Level)

Location: National Capital Region (On-site / Hybrid)

Clearance: Active Secret required; active TS/SCI preferred

We are pleased to announce the opening for a mid-level AFSIM developer who will join our Engineering Services Division in the National Capital Region and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in mission engineering, missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control markets. You will be part of a team known for conducting analysis on critical missions and will help identify concepts and emerging technologies to close capability gaps in support of the warfighter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain AFSIM models of platforms, sensors, weapons, communications, and command-and-control systems

  • Build scenarios and behavior logic to represent realistic operational tactics

  • Conduct mission-level and engagement-level analysis

  • Run batch simulations, then post-process, analyze, and visualize output data to support studies and trade analyses

  • Develop MATLAB and/or Python scripts and tools to automate scenario generation, Monte Carlo runs, and data reduction workflows

  • Prototype algorithms (e.g., sensor, guidance, or tracking models) in MATLAB or Python before implementing them in AFSIM

  • Perform verification and validation of models, and document assumptions, data sources, results, and findings

  • Collaborate with analysts, subject matter experts, and customers to translate operational requirements into simulation capabilities

  • Independently own assigned development tasks from design through delivery while working alongside senior engineers and analysts, and contribute to code reviews and configuration management

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field

  • 4–7 years of experience in modeling and simulation, operations analysis, or software development

  • Hands-on experience developing models or scenarios in AFSIM

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for data analysis, visualization, and automation

  • Familiarity with object-oriented design, debugging, and build tools

  • Experience with version control (Git) in a team environment

  • Active Secret security clearance

  • U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the above Required Qualifications):

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

  • Master's degree in a related technical field

  • Experience with both MATLAB and Python, including libraries such as NumPy, pandas, and Matplotlib

  • C++ development experience

  • Experience developing AFSIM plug-ins or extending the core framework

  • Familiarity with AFSIM applications such as Wizard, Warlock, and Mystic

  • Knowledge of military operations, kill chains, air/missile defense, or electronic warfare concepts

  • Experience with other M&S tools such as NGTS, Brawler, JSAF, STK, STORM, or OneSAF

  • Experience working in Windows and/or Linux development environments
