POSITON SUMMARY:

The General Superintendent, MOW Control is responsible for serving as the MOW liaison at the Operation Control Center (OCC). The selected candidate will manage and monitor significant events requiring response from the various divisions within MOW , coordinate the notification and dispatch of emergency personnel, evaluate emergency conditions and coordinate the response for customer assistance. They will interact with all other OCC personnel, other departments within NYCT, and NYC/NYS emergency response agencies to coordinate emergency/incident responses. The incumbent will also notify and update MOW leadership on significant events, prepare reports and make recommendations, develop and modify procedures, assist the manager and supervisors of the OCC MOW Operations Center unit and ensure adequate, around-the-clock coverage.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A High School Diploma or its educational equivalent.

  • T en (10) years of experience and five (5) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • In ‑ depth knowledge of relevant regulations, MOW policies and procedures, and the functions of the MOW Operations Center.

  • Strong understanding of the NYC Subway system infrastructure, including track, power operations, and emergency/safety protocols.

  • Familiarity with the operations of other NYCT Subways divisions and the OCC.

  • Demonstrated ability to assess emergency conditions and coordinate effective responses across multiple units.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with OCC personnel, field staff, NYCT departments, and external emergency agencies.

  • Proven problem ‑ solving abilities and sound judgment, especially in high ‑ pressure or emergency situations.

  • Ability to prepare clear reports, develop recommendations, and assist in creating or revising procedures.

  • Experience supporting 24/7 operational environments and ensuring adequate staffing coverage.

Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
