Full job description

Description

The Armbruster Laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University seeks a postdoctoral researcher to investigate how bacterial biofilms and airway infection influence the delivery and activity of emerging therapeutics. The postdoc will lead microbiology studies examining therapeutic interactions with biofilms and infected, inflamed airway epithelial models. Responsibilities include developing and conducting experiments to assess biofilm penetration, epithelial responses, and delivery efficiency; collaborating with engineers to evaluate therapeutic design features; and preparing manuscripts and mentoring trainees. The project uses cystic fibrosis as a model, with broader relevance to chronic respiratory diseases.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a PhD in microbiology, biomedical sciences, or a related field. Experience with bacterial biofilms, host-pathogen interactions, mammalian cell culture, or fluorescence microscopy is desirable, along with an interest in interdisciplinary research at the interface of microbiology and engineering.

Application Instructions

Applications, including a cover letter and a curriculum vitae indicating your interest and relevant training should be submitted electronically via Interfolio
