Your Key Areas of Focus1. Staff Development & Leadership

  • Direct, supervise, evaluate, recruit, select, hire, train, counsel, and oversee all nursing personnel.

  • Coach and develop staff, actively engaging in the growth of your leadership team and establishing clear operational benchmarks.

  • Develop organizational policies, procedures, instructional materials, and conduct in-service and community-based educational programs.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to establish appropriate staffing levels for C.N.A.s and L.P.N.s per shift based on budgeted NHPPD.

  1. Professional Excellence
  • Stay up to date on medical advances, computerized diagnostic/treatment equipment, data processing technology, health insurance changes, and financing options.

  • Consult with medical, business, and community groups to discuss service problems, respond to community needs, enhance public relations, and promote health and rehabilitation programs.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of long-term care nursing practices, laws, guidelines, and company policies (including harassment and complaint procedures).

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and all professional and non-professional team members while retaining direct nursing care skills as necessary.

  1. Facility Operations & Fiscal Management
  • Conduct and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, budget planning, authorizing expenditures, establishing service rates, and coordinating financial reporting.

  • Plan, organize, and interpret Nursing Services department programs, goals, objectives, and policies while maintaining communication with governing boards and department heads.

  • Review and analyze facility data to aid in planning, risk management, service utilization, and quality initiative reporting.

  • Optimize the use of diagnostic services, inpatient beds, and staff resources, and inspect facilities to ensure emergency readiness and safety/sanitation compliance.

Skills, Abilities & Requirements

  • Licensure: Currently a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Maine. CPR certification upon hire (or obtained during orientation) and maintained continuously during employment.

  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of related nursing and leadership experience.

  • Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; solid personal computer and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) skills; strong leadership abilities to develop new team strengths; advanced analytical skills to turn data into action; and sound reasoning, judgment, and critical thinking skills.
