Full job description
We are looking for an experienced Pricing Strategy Director to help shape pricing, packaging and monetization strategy across Sage, with a particular focus on Payments and embedded financial services.
This role will partner closely with Product, Product Marketing, Finance, Commercial and regional leadership teams to develop customer-centric, commercially compelling pricing strategies. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial judgment with data and analytics to evaluate pricing opportunities, challenge existing assumptions and translate complex customer and product economics into clear recommendations.
While the role will support a range of strategic pricing initiatives, payments will be an important area of focus. This requires understanding business models where economics are driven not only by subscription pricing, but also by transaction volumes, customer behavior, adoption, usage and underlying unit economics.
We are looking for someone who can form a strong point of view, back it with evidence, and work collaboratively across the organization to turn pricing strategy into better customer and business outcomes
Lead strategic pricing, packaging and monetization initiatives across priority Sage products and services.
Serve as a pricing thought partner to Product, Product Marketing, Finance, Sales and Commercial leadership.
Develop and evaluate pricing and packaging strategies using customer value, willingness to pay, competitive positioning and financial analysis.
Lead pricing strategy for Payments, FinTech and embedded financial services, including transactional, usage-based and subscription-plus-usage business models.
Build commercial models incorporating transaction volumes, adoption, customer behavior, unit economics, partner economics and revenue sensitivity.
Evaluate different monetization approaches, including subscription fees, transaction-based pricing, revenue share, bundled/embedded models and hybrid approaches.
Develop customer segmentation and pricing strategies that recognize differences in usage patterns, willingness to pay and economics across customer groups and markets.
Assess new product and proposition launches, evaluating alternative pricing and packaging approaches rather than simply validating a predetermined recommendation.
Develop clear financial scenarios showing the revenue, adoption, retention and commercial implications of different pricing decisions.
Partner cross-functionally to translate pricing strategy into practical implementation and go-to-market recommendations.
Bring an external perspective through competitive research, market trends and emerging monetization models.
Present clear recommendations, alternatives and trade-offs to senior leadership and help drive decisions.
Use AI, analytics and other modern tools to accelerate research, analysis and pricing decision-making.
