Full job description
Mindex is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Professional Services division. You'll design, build, and support enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, and modern development tools, applying AI-assisted engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle. You'll work closely with customers and cross-functional team members to understand business needs and deliver reliable software solutions. The ideal candidate is a curious, detail-oriented engineer who enjoys solving problems, collaborating with others, and growing their technical skills.
We welcome candidates from a variety of locations; however, all candidates should be open to occasional in-person participation for business meetings, team events, or collaboration opportunities. Candidates located within approximately 35 miles of Rochester, NY may be asked to work from the office more frequently based on business or team needs.
Compensation
$70,000 - $120,000
What You'll Accomplish

Understand customer requirements and develop tasks to accurately reflect those requirements .

Designs and develops technical software solutions.

Writes and performs testing, assists in determining the scope for testing requirements agreed-upon by the team or business unit.

Provides ongoing support and enhancements for new and existing systems and platforms.

Uses a systematic approach to debug issues located within a single application.

Understands a portion of the team's application(s), can gain sufficient context to work productively in that portion.

Designs functions that are aligned with the overall service architecture.

Understands the importance of security. Utilizes this knowledge to ask more senior engineers for help on making decisions that may have security implications.

Documents each aspect of a systems application.

Collaborates cross-functionally with team members and customers to ensure effective and efficient implementation of solutions.

Demonstrates an AI-first mindset by effectively leveraging AI-assisted tools and technologies to enhance productivity, accelerate problem-solving, improve quality, automate routine tasks, and drive innovation in the delivery of solutions and services.
Requirements
-
AS or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3-5 years of software development experience in Java, Spring Framework, React, Python, MongoDB and Kafka..

Experience with enterprise development in an Agile environment

Experience with an RDBMS such as Oracle or SQL Server

Experience with SOAP and/or REST web services

Experience with defect tracking software

Experience with all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)

Strong analysis, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Highly organized and accurate, with strong initiative and follow-through.

Aptitude and desire to work in a highly collaborative, self-organizing team environment.

Willingness and ability to give and receive feedback.

Ability to work independently while asking questions when needed.
