Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations in Jessup, Maryland. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing close activities, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and ensuring financial data is finalized on time.

• Maintain the general ledger by recording and validating financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy.

• Prepare and post journal entries that properly reflect routine and adjusting accounting activity.

• Perform reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and investigate variances to ensure discrepancies are resolved promptly.

• Complete bank reconciliations by matching cash activity, identifying exceptions, and following through on outstanding items.

• Analyze financial information and supporting documentation to improve accuracy and strengthen reporting reliability.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather accounting details, clarify issues, and support timely completion of period-end tasks. Requirements • Demonstrated experience managing month-end close processes in an accounting environment.

• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial record maintenance.

• Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing journal entries.

• Proven ability to complete account reconciliations accurately and efficiently.

• Experience performing bank reconciliations and resolving related discrepancies.

• High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.

• Ability to prioritize deadlines and work independently while maintaining accuracy.
