Full job description

Who is Rainforest? Rainforest is an early stage payments-as-a-service startup that has developed a solution that makes monetizing payments for vertically focused software platforms fair and simple. We focus on small-to-mid sized platforms that want to add value to their small business customers through embedded payments — and want to do so without adding operational or regulatory burdens or costs. Led by a successful repeat fintech founder with deep knowledge of the industry, and with venture backing from a Top 10 VC firm, Rainforest is well positioned to make an impact in the payments-as-a-service space, and we're looking for new team members who want to be a part of this journey! Who are we looking for? Rainforest is looking for a deeply technical Product Manager for our AI & Agents team. You'll own the agentic products that help vertical SaaS platforms run and grow their payments programs. This isn't a traditional PM role. We need someone who understands how agentic products are built from the inside: the harness around the model, the tools it calls, the memory it keeps, and the evaluations that prove it's getting better. You'll know you're the right candidate when you'd rather open a merge request with your AI coding tools than write a ticket about it, and when you have strong opinions about which model belongs on which task. You'll also help shape how AI and agents are used across Rainforest, partnering with teams company-wide to bring agentic workflows into how we operate.

What are some of the high-impact opportunities you’ll tackle?

  • Owning the product direction for our agent harness, including the knowledge, skills, and tools that make it valuable beyond a thin wrapper on an LLM

  • Defining and building the evaluation, regression testing, and telemetry that keep our agents accurate as models and prompts change

  • Tuning agent behavior hands-on, from prompts to knowledge base to skills, in close partnership with engineering

  • Driving model selection and routing decisions across multiple LLMs, balancing capability, latency, and cost

  • Designing how our clients' own agents interoperate with Rainforest through MCP and agent-to-agent communication

  • Making product changes directly using AI coding tools and partnering with engineers to review and ship them

  • Serving as an internal thought leader on AI and agents, helping teams across Rainforest adopt agentic workflows

  • Representing our agentic products externally with clients and the broader market

This opportunity is for you if you have / are:

  • Hands-on experience building agentic products or agent harnesses, including tool use, memory, prompt assembly, and evaluation

  • Deep, current knowledge of the LLM landscape, including frontier and open-weight models and where each performs well

  • Daily fluency with AI coding tools and comfort making real code changes

  • Experience building evals or regression suites for LLM-based systems

  • Familiarity with MCP, agent-to-agent protocols, embeddings, and multi-model architectures

  • A strong technical background, whether from product, engineering, or an adjacent role

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex systems to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a high degree of autonomy in a fast-moving startup

  • Experience in payments or fintech is a plus

We offer a comprehensive health benefits package, unlimited paid time off, paid parental leave, a fun and flexible working environment, and continuously invest in our people and our culture. If you require any accommodations throughout the pre-employment process, please contact our HR team at [email protected]
