Our mission is to provide high-quality, free civil legal advice, representation, and education to the disadvantaged of Broward County. Our organization has more than 125 employees, including more than 50 attorneys, who provide free services and resources across a broad range of civil legal issues that impact health, safety, and self-sufficiency. Through education, effective litigation, and collaboration, we work to expand access to justice, identify community needs, and challenge systems, laws, and policies that adversely affect underserved and marginalized populations. The attorney will represent both community families and children involved in the foster care system, helping ensure they receive the educational services, accommodations, and support they are entitled to under the law. Key Responsibilities • Advocate for children who may require special education services and accommodations. • Represent children identified as having disabilities under federal IDEA regulations and state laws. • Serve and support community families as well as children within the foster care system. • Manage a substantial caseload while maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced and demanding environment. • Conduct legal research, case preparation, advocacy, and litigation activities as required. • Work collaboratively with attorneys, support staff, volunteers, community organizations, and partner agencies. • Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and educational institutions. • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and effective time management. Qualifications Required • Active membership in the Florida Bar. • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. • Ability to manage a large caseload effectively. • Ability to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative team member. • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of underserved and vulnerable populations. • Ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
