Fabrication Operations Manager

Location: Bethlehem, PA

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Salary: $80,000–$100,000 per year

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Operations Manager to lead sheet metal fabrication, welding, and finishing operations in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production, developing employees, maintaining quality and safety standards, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing , along with proven leadership experience. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the fabrication process and can effectively manage people, production schedules, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily sheet metal fabrication, welding, and finishing operations

  • Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer and project deadlines

  • Monitor production to ensure products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements

  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, scheduling conflicts, and manufacturing issues

  • Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to resolve technical and process challenges

  • Monitor production metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, throughput, and cost

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities and recommend equipment repairs, upgrades, and purchases

  • Establish and maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements

  • Lead, coach, train, and develop fabrication and production employees

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback

  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding of production employees

  • Conduct safety meetings and employee training

  • Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective actions

  • Communicate production status, issues, staffing needs, and resource requirements to leadership

Fabrication Environment

The operation includes a variety of manufacturing processes and equipment, including:

  • CNC laser cutting

  • CNC punching

  • CNC press brakes

  • Sheet metal fabrication

  • Manual and robotic welding

  • Pretreatment and phosphate conversion coating

  • Powder coating application and curing

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or a related field

  • 5+ years of sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing experience

  • 3+ years of supervisory or team lead experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications

  • Strong leadership and employee development skills

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement is highly valued

  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, and on-time production

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
