We have an outstanding Contract position for aQuality Engineerto join a leading Company located in theAnniston, ALsurrounding area.

US Citizenship is required.

Seeking a Quality Engineer to support the Combat Mission Systems' Paladin vehicle manufacturing program. In this role, the Quality Engineer is responsible for developing , implementing , and maintaining quality evaluation and control systems within a low-rate, automotive-style manufacturing environment. The QE ensures that all requirements are met across multiple assembly stages, including Engine Testing, Sub-assemblies, Main Line, Garage, Testing, and Paint & Processing. The successful candidate will act as a critical link between production and quality, collaborating with cross-functional support organizations to investigate, document, and resolve complex issues inherent in military vehicle build processes. This role requires a proactive approach to continuous improvement, utilizing quality tools and data analytics to drive corrective actions and ensure total conformance to technical specifications and customer requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • System Ownership: Develop and modify quality control protocols for in-process, partially finished, and finished tracked vehicle products.

  • Process Validation: Validate processes, procedures, parts, and final vehicles to ensure 100% conformance to engineering specs and customer requirements.

  • Data-Driven Improvement: Monitor input and Pareto quality data to identify defect trends and nonconformities; present findings to leadership to drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate and lead project efforts with cross-functional teams (CFT) to resolve production bottlenecks and quality escapes.

  • Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing activities align with ISO 9001 standards and internal quality governance.

Basic Hiring Criteria:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and 8+ years of relevant experience, including a proven track record in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Deep understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Practical experience operating within ISO 9001 quality management systems.

  • Problem Solving: Proven background in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques specific to low-rate production environments.

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and engineering specifications. o Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Communication: Highly organized with the ability to communicate technical issues effectively to both shop-floor personnel and executive leadership.

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing, production, assembly or automotive environment, specifically with low-rate, high-complexity assemblies.

  • Quality Systems: Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining quality control protocols within an ISO 9001 certified environment.

  • Technical Analysis: Experience using Pareto charts and other data analysis tools to identify defect trends and implement corrective actions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: A track record of leading cross-functional teams (CFT) to resolve production issues and quality escapes.

  • Technical Documentation: Experience interpreting engineering blueprints and technical drawings to validate part conformance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: 2+ years of relevant quality engineering experience.

  • Associate's Degree: 4+ years of relevant quality engineering experience.

  • Formal training and certification in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5-Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and 8D methodology.

  • Risk Management: Proficiency in developing and maintaining PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PQCT (Process Quality Control Tables).

  • Metrology & Inspection: Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and the development of inspection programs using portable metrology technology (e.g., Faro arms, laser trackers).

  • Systems Expertise: Hands-on experience with ORACLE MRP systems and TIPQA for quality tracking and documentation.

  • Audit Leadership: Experience performing ISO internal audits and Layered Process Audits (LPA), including the ability to lead Cross-Functional Team (CFT) meetings to close audit findings.

  • Production Support: Experience drafting and refining detailed work instructions for complex assembly processes to reduce human-factor errors.
