Attorney III - Magistrate

Summary: The purpose of this job is to conduct various court proceedings, including arraignments and informal hearings. Manages small claims docket, accepts pleas, issues warrants, and performs civil marriage ceremonies. Hearings include civil traffic and municipal civil infractions. ** Essential Duties & Responsibilities** - Conducts arraignments for misdemeanors and felony cases; determines bond and other conditions for pre-trial release. - Manages Civil Small Claims Docket. - Authorizes search and arrest warrants for misdemeanors and felony crimes. - Conducts informal hearings for civil traffic infractions and municipal civil infractions. - Reviews documents, issues judgments, or orders other actions. - Conducts civil marriage ceremonies. - Establishes and fosters positive and productive relationships with legal staff, court officials, law enforcement, and other members of the judicial system. - Conducts legal research when required. - Works nights, weekends, and other non-traditional hours as required to fulfill Magistrate responsibilities and meet the operational needs of the Court. - Performs related work as required.
