Full job description
Automated Precision Inc. is seeking Calibration Technicians to join our growing team in Newport News, VA. This position plays a critical role in supporting our high-precision metrology lab by performing in-house calibrations and assisting with the repair of laser-based measurement systems.
Key Responsibilities

Calibrate high-precision laser measurement systems and other instruments per documented procedures
-
Receive and check in customer equipment for calibration
-
Complete accurate documentation (digital and/or paper) for all work performed
-
Assist with proper packaging and shipment of equipment to customers
-
Maintain a clean and safe lab environment
-
Support the shipment of equipment to and from field engineers and customers
-
Communicate inventory needs to Supervisor/Manager
-
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
-
Pair up with experienced field engineers working at customer sites to provide machine tool calibration services as and when needed
Preferred Qualifications
-
Associate degree or equivalent
-
Coursework or interest in mechatronics, electronics, or mechanical systems preferred
-
Experience with optical or electro-mechanical assembly a plus
-
Familiarity with hand tools and measurement tools (e.g., calipers, multimeters, micrometers)
-
Understanding of calibration traceability and industry best practices
-
Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
-
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and math skills
-
Effective written and verbal communication
-
Willing to travel
