Full job description

Your first software role, built by a company that does this for a living.

Launching technology careers is SkillStorm's core business. We prepare engineers for Fortune 100 enterprises and U.S. government agencies through a straightforward model: you're hired as a paid employee, spend 12 weeks building real projects alongside a team, and then deploy directly to an enterprise or government client, effective day one. There's no tuition and no cost to you. This is a salaried position with a defined progression from "qualified" to "deployed professional."

Who this role is for

We hire people who are early in their technical careers and ready for a structured entry point into enterprise software. That includes recent graduates, career changers who already have a technical foundation, and transitioning service members and veterans. If you've got the fundamentals and the drive, we want to talk.

How to qualify

You'll need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related technical field

  • At least 1 year of technical work experience

You should come with a working grasp of programming fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, databases and SQL, and object-oriented development in a language like Java or C#.

Every applicant who meets one of these paths gets an individual review for fit. Not sure you qualify? Apply anyway. Let us make that decision rather than ruling yourself out.

What sets strong candidates apart

  • Sharp problem-solving and logical reasoning skills

  • Clear written and verbal communication with teammates and stakeholders

  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. government security clearance

  • Willingness to relocate for a client placement

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. as a SkillStorm W2 employee (C2C arrangements are not available)

A note for veterans and transitioning service members

Structured training, a clear mission, clearance-eligible work, and relocation support: this program runs the way you're already used to operating. We're actively recruiting you into this pipeline.

Your work at the client site

  • Develop and improve applications using your client's languages, frameworks, and tools

  • Produce clean, efficient, well-organized code that meets professional standards

  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects, and provide technical support

  • Take part in code reviews, offering and accepting constructive feedback

  • Partner with stakeholders to turn business requirements into technical specifications

  • Assist with testing and production deployments, and keep technical documentation current

  • Stay sharp on evolving industry tools and practices through continued training

What you get with SkillStorm

  • A competitive salary from your first day; this is a paid role, not training you pay for

  • Enterprise-level technology training and industry certifications

  • Placement with Fortune 100 companies and government agencies

  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus a 401(k)

  • Ongoing mentorship and support through training and into your placement
