Full job description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a busy team in Portland, Maine in a Contract position. This opportunity combines executive support, office coordination, and legal administrative work, making it ideal for someone who is highly organized and eager to expand their skills. The role will provide direct assistance to senior leaders while also partnering with legal counsel on documentation, filings, and entity-related matters. Candidates who are adaptable, proactive, and comfortable balancing shifting priorities will be well suited for this position.
Responsibilities:

Coordinate complex calendars, schedule meetings, and manage travel arrangements for senior leadership while keeping daily priorities organized.

Provide broad office support by handling administrative tasks, maintaining smooth day-to-day operations, and responding quickly to team needs.

Partner with legal counsel to assist with business entity setup, prepare formation documents, and track related filing deadlines.

Draft, review, and organize agreements and other legal documents with close attention to accuracy and completeness.

Submit filings to state agencies and support electronic filing activities in accordance with applicable requirements.

Maintain legal and administrative records, ensuring documents are properly stored, updated, and easy to retrieve.

Assist with court-related and civil litigation support tasks as needed, including filing coordination and document preparation.

Take on additional office coordination and legal support duties as training is provided and responsibilities expand. Requirements • Prior experience in a Legal Assistant, legal administrative, or comparable office support role.

Strong calendar management skills with the ability to coordinate schedules and logistics for multiple stakeholders.

Familiarity with e-filing processes, court filings, and document submission procedures.

Exposure to civil litigation support or related legal administrative work.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments with accuracy and discretion.

Willingness to learn new legal processes and contribute wherever support is needed.

Clear written and verbal communication skills with a detail-oriented and dependable approach.
