In this role, you will serve as Amazon's senior policy authority on chemical and environmental matters — including PFAS, heavy metals, DOE, and EPA regulations — owning the definitive policy positions that guide how Amazon ensures product compliance with applicable laws worldwide.
You will manage and develop a team of junior subject matter experts, fostering their growth into well-rounded compliance professionals while driving high-quality policy outputs. Working at the intersection of science, regulation, and business, you will partner closely with legal and category teams across the organization to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable policies. You will also serve as a key external voice, engaging directly with regulators to articulate Amazon's compliance positions and shape constructive dialogue on emerging regulatory issues.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the nexus of technical expertise and strategic influence, and who is passionate about protecting customers while enabling Amazon to operate responsibly at scale.

Develop, author, and maintain policies related to key regulatory areas including but not limited to:
PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) restrictions
Heavy metals regulations and limits
DOE (Department of Energy) compliance
EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulatory requirements
Collaborate cross-functionally with legal teams and category teams to ensure product compliance across Amazon's catalog and to align policy positions with business needs.
Engage directly with external regulators and government bodies to represent and explain Amazon's compliance positions, advocate for practical regulatory approaches, and stay ahead of emerging regulatory developments.
Monitor the evolving global regulatory landscape for chemical and environmental compliance, proactively identifying risks and opportunities that impact Amazon's product offerings.
Drive alignment across stakeholders to ensure consistent interpretation and application of compliance policies across regions and product categories.

-
Familiarity with product safety and compliance in an e-commerce or retail environment.
