Full job description

Job Description:

Techtronic Industries (TTi) is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with product design experience who will be responsible for design and development of new concepts related to new and mature products. TTi is an industry leading consumer products company with core product lines in handheld and benchtop power tools, outdoor products and cleaning products. This is position will provide product engineers with concepts and designs that make power tools more compact, more powerful, and more efficient.

Proficiency in 3D CAD and mechanism design such as bearings, shafts, gears, components, and assemblies are essential. Hands-on experience building functional prototypes is essential. An educated understanding of strength of materials is required. Knowledge of finite element and basic dynamics is a plus.

Position is on-premise, but some remote work is currently required.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Lead the design of components and assemblies to meet market driven design guides and fulfill cost, timing, reliability, and high-volume manufacturing as related to consumer products.

  • Build functional prototypes and test fixtures to prove designs and concepts.

  • Communicate technical details and concepts to both technical and non-technical team members in Anderson, SC and internationally.

  • Accountable for technical elements of product execution including integration of complicated components and assemblies, material selection, packaging and safety, as well as, regulatory and standards compliance.

  • Drive quality compliance as related to project work. Utilize appropriate design development tools and techniques such as Value and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Design of experiments, design for manufacture, assembly and inspection, CAD analysis and 3D Design Tools.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace

  • 10+ years' mechanical design experience required

  • Proven 3D CAD experience

  • Knowledge of GD&T

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as plastics injection molding, screw machines, powder metal, stampings, forming, etc.

  • Enthusiasm toward design, analysis, and a collaborative work environment
