Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer solves complex mechanical packaging and box-level design challenges for in-flight entertainment (IFE) and satellite connectivity hardware. This role addresses severe environmental and structural constraints, such as thermal dissipation, mechanical vibration, EMI, and IP sealing requirements. Additionally, the engineer overcomes system-level integration hurdles to deliver fully compliant aerospace enclosures that meet strict DO-160 qualification and Boeing Line Fit installation standards.
What Success Looks Like (Objectives):

Own and execute mechanical packaging and box-level design of IFE and connectivity hardware from concept through production release
-
Perform thermal and structural calculations alongside analytical methods to validate design integrity
-
Support department OKRs by maintaining product delivery timelines, reducing design iterations, and upholding strict compliance with DO-160 testing standards
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Boeing engineering, and suppliers to ensure structural interface compatibility and seamless system integration
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Core Skills and Competencies (What you'll bring):

Advanced technical mastery in 3D CAD modeling, GD&T, and tolerance analysis using ASME Y14.5 standards
-
Comprehensive expertise in aerospace material selection, environmental qualification, and DO-160 compliance testing
-
Strong analytical skills in thermal management and structural calculations
-
Proven cross-functional collaboration capabilities to coordinate across electrical, system, manufacturing, and external test teams
Additional Qualifications:
-
Aviation qualification experience (e.g. DO-160, Boeing/Airbus IFE/connectivity qualifications, Boeing Line Fit programs, or SFE/BFE programs)
-
Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles, HALT/HASS testing, and aircraft structural installation methodologies
Minimum Requirements:
-
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
-
Minimum Experience: 4+ years of experience in hands-on mechanical design for aerospace, electronics hardware, or communications equipment

Required Technical Skills (4+ years of experience):
-
3D CAD modeling, detailed drawing creation, and tolerance analysis
-
Structural and thermal analysis using analytical methods
-
Environmental and mechanical testing planning and execution
-
Required Technical Skills (No year minimum):
-
Authoring, executing, and reporting on test procedures, with familiarity with test facility operations and equipment capabilities/operation

Cable and harness design experience
-
Ability to apply box-level structural design logic to product development utilizing hand calculations

Preferred Technical Skills:
-
Packaging design practices for EMI sensitive applications

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
