Full job description
Our client, a leading consumer packaged goods organization is seeking a Packaging Engineer Assistant to join their team. As a Packaging Engineer Assistant, you will be part of the Packaging organization supporting Omni channel and e-comm packaging initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills, proactive problem solving, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams—aligning successfully in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Location: Parsippany, NJ / Montvale, NJ (Hybrid: ≥3 days in office, ≤2 days remote per week)
Pay Range: $47
What's the Job?

Manage high-growth packaging projects for Omni channel opportunities, with Amazon as a key focus area.

Re-think and develop packaging concepts for prep-free and SIOC/SIPP, then follow through with proposals, material/component selection, cost estimating participation, sampling, validation, and complete related documentation.

Use hands-on experience to take SKUs through Amazon SIOC certification and ISTA 6 Amazon.com testing, submit through Amazon Packaging support and Supplier Networking (PSSN), and resolve certification rejections.

Collaborate with Packaging and cross-functional partners including Omni channel, Project Managers, Quality, R&D formulators, Marketing, Supply Chain, and external CMO/custom manufacturing sites and suppliers.

Support packaging execution by ensuring form, fit, and function while balancing cost, manufacturability, sustainability, and consumer/customer preferences; assist with die lines for artwork development.
What's Needed?

Packaging degree and 2-5 years of CPG / consumer packaged goods commercialization experience (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree also considered).

Experience in package development, testing, materials, and components, including understanding of torques, sealing, assembly, print technologies, and document management.

Working knowledge of household product compatibility with different materials to support packaging evaluations and validations, including arranging in-house and/or third-party testing.

Ability to be trained on internal systems to request codes for new components and create/revise/remediate specifications, bills of materials, pallet pattern documents, and related project artifacts.

Proficiency with MS suite (Teams, Excel, Word) and TOPS; strong communication skills for email, calls, Teams chat/video, and in-person collaboration.
