Wage - $23.76 per hour

Schedule – Full Time, 8hr shifts, Monday – Friday

What you will be doing: You’ll be responsible for Work-Based Learning (WBL) connects education with employment and allows our students to explore career opportunities and develop important employability skills. A Business Community Liaison (BCL) for Job Corps serves as the primary link between the center, employers, and the community to foster partnerships, secure training/job placements, and enhance public image. Key duties include managing Industry Councils, organizing work-based learning, promoting student placement, and coordinating community outreach initiatives to support Job Corps' mission.

The WBL/BCL Specialist is a unique opportunity to network, establish and advocate for Job Corps community connectedness to benefit and enrich the lives of our student program participants. We’re looking for an individual to work closely with our Center in our shared goal to open the door for employment possibilities for young adults.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Industry & Business Partnership Development: Develop and maintain relationships with local employers, unions, and apprenticeship programs to create work-based learning and job placement opportunities for students.

  2. Council Coordination: Lead the Workforce Council, Center Industry Council and Community Relations Council (CRC) to align training programs with labor market needs.

  3. CRC meetings are intended to educate and inform community members about the Job Corps program and Tongue Point Job Corps Center to increase community understanding of and support for the Center. Tongue Point Job Corps Center holds quarterly CRC meetings.

  4. Community Outreach & Public Relations: Act as the center spokesperson, representing Job Corps at public events, giving tours, and managing media/publicity to enhance community awareness.

  5. Student Career Support: Leverage community partnerships to assist students in securing internships, jobs, apprenticeship programs, or enrollment in higher education, and prepare them for post-center placement.

  6. Community Service & Projects: Initiate, plan, and manage student volunteer activities and community service projects to build a positive community presence.

  7. Reporting & Administration: Maintain accurate records of community service hours, update social media, and submit progress reports to the Center Director and regional offices.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or education and one year related experience preferred.

  • Directly related experience and/or training may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.

  • Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.

  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence with an acceptable driving record.
