Job Description

Position Summary:

CEMML seeks a temporary, part-time Non-Student Hourly employee for a nine-month appointment supporting natural resource program management at Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii. Duties include conservation planning, regulatory compliance support, and coordination with program staff.

Pay: $58.00 per hour.

Appointment duration: Nine months.

Schedule: Part time; hours coordinated with the supervisor.

Full consideration date: October 7, 2026.

CEMML is a research, education, and service unit within CSU’s Warner College of Natural Resources that supports natural and cultural resource management on military and other public lands.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Support natural resource conservation activities and cooperative agreement requirements.

  • Assist with work plans, budgets, schedules, and regulatory compliance.

  • Provide technical guidance and coordinate assigned activities with CEMML and Army personnel.

Conditions of Employment:

Employment is contingent upon available funding and completion of applicable CSU background screening and installation-access requirements.

Supervision:

This position reports to David Jones, Principal Investigator, Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, biology, or a related field.

  • Relevant experience in natural resource program management and threatened or endangered species conservation.

  • Knowledge of the Endangered Species Act and experience supporting environmental compliance.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate assigned work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting natural resource management on military lands.

  • Familiarity with Hawaiian ecosystems and threatened or endangered species.

  • Experience implementing Biological Opinions and coordinating conservation work with agency partners.

Salary Range

$58.00 per hour
