Job Title: Entry-Level Electrical Engineer

Job Description

This entry-level electrical engineering role offers a strong foot-in-the-door opportunity for a junior Electrical Engineer, Electronics Technician, or recent EE/EET graduate who wants hands-on experience with electrical and electronics systems. You will focus on evaluating and troubleshooting returned products that include electronic generator controllers, using structured diagnostic procedures and standard test equipment to determine failures and support warranty decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and troubleshoot returned electronic generator controllers in a systematic and safe manner.

  • Follow a detailed diagnostic procedure of approximately 12 pages that outlines test points, measurements, expected results, and oscilloscope examples.

  • Use a digital multimeter or voltmeter and oscilloscope to take accurate measurements on circuit boards.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics to identify and probe appropriate locations on printed circuit boards (PCBs).

  • Compare measured values and observed waveforms against documented expected results to identify discrepancies.

  • Determine whether a returned unit is damaged and help identify the likely cause of failure.

  • Run established automated tests on returned units when applicable to verify performance and functionality.

  • Document test results, observations, and conclusions clearly to support warranty decisions and product evaluations.

  • Escalate unusual, complex, or difficult failures to a senior Electrical Engineer for further analysis and guidance.

  • Work methodically and carefully when probing circuit boards to ensure accurate diagnostics and safe handling of equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Basic ability to read and understand electrical schematics.

  • Hands-on experience using a digital multimeter or voltmeter to take electrical measurements.

  • Basic experience using an oscilloscope to observe and interpret waveforms.

  • Comfort probing and taking measurements on circuit boards in a safe and controlled manner.

  • Fundamental troubleshooting skills in electrical and electronic systems.

  • Ability to follow detailed diagnostic procedures step by step and apply them consistently.

  • Attention to detail when comparing measurements and waveforms to documented expected results.

  • Clear written documentation skills to record findings and support technical decisions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), or equivalent technical discipline.

  • Experience as a junior Electrical Engineer or strong Electronics Technician, including relevant labs, internships, co-ops, or technician roles.

  • Hands-on experience from university labs, personal electronics projects, or maker activities involving circuit boards and test equipment.

  • Ability to safely handle and test electronic generator controllers and related components.

  • Interest in developing deeper expertise in diagnostics, failure analysis, and warranty support.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a methodical and analytical approach to identifying faults.

Work Environment

This role provides a hands-on, lab-based work environment focused on testing and troubleshooting electronic generator controllers and circuit boards. You will regularly use equipment such as digital multimeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and automated test systems while following detailed diagnostic procedures and technical documentation. The work is structured, methodical, and safety-conscious, with access to experienced senior Electrical Engineers for guidance on complex issues. The environment supports learning and professional growth for early-career engineers and technicians who want practical experience in electronics diagnostics and failure analysis
