Summary

About the Position: You will serve as principal administrative support assistant. Responsible for the accomplishment of the clerical, administrative and office automation functions of the Area Office. Work requires general knowledge of office mission and functions of Branch and an understanding of how the office administrative services relate to each other and to the mission.

Duties

  • Advise manager(s) on practical and technical aspects of office administration, including budgeting, purchasing, supply management, personnel administration, data processing and files management and performs staff support.
  • Track financial, personnel, supply and other administrative transactions as documentation flows through office in electronic and paper form.
  • Collect data for office operating budget, review submissions of office staff assistants for proper format and compliance with budget requirements and consolidates material into annual office budget.
  • Provide contract administration support.
  • Use automation equipment and software (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.), to produce a wide variety material, e.g., correspondence, reports, graphics, calendars, charts, statistical tables and various forms and documents.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing general administrative support duties; utilizing automated databases to enter, retrieve, and track organizational data; and preparing standard correspondence, reports, or records in accordance with established office procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist types 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
