Full job description

Overview

Intuit is a global technology platform company that helps our customers and communities overcome their most important financial challenges. We help give over 50 million consumer, small business, and self-employed customers around the world the opportunity to prosper.

Mission

Build payroll where the system does the work — accurate, done-for-you payroll that Mid-Market and Enterprise teams stop having to think about.

Context

QuickBooks already runs at a scale most payroll products never reach — Intuit serves ~100M customers worldwide, and QuickBooks Online has 7M+ subscribers. We're taking the category we lead and turning it into the best payroll platform for Mid-Market and Enterprise, by automating time, pay, tax, compliance, and money movement end-to-end, with a mix of classic systems thinking and modern AI.

This is a staff-level role with real ownership over ambiguity. If you're hungry to ship, obsess over customer pain, and are passionate about simplifying complexity: this is a great role with real AI scope & real customer problems to solve.

Responsibilities

What you'll do

  • Move the product from manual entry to autopilot: systems that detect when payroll is ready to run, flag anomalies, and drive approvals proactively instead of waiting for an admin to notice a problem.

  • Build compliance that runs in the background — catching rate, deduction, and tax errors before they ship — and pair every automated change with an explanation an admin can actually audit.

  • Redesign the underlying data model and permissions where they're the reason automation isn't reliable today.

  • Design agentic workflows that act like a high-performing payroll admin, while keeping the customer able to see, override, or roll back anything the system did.

  • Partner daily with engineering, data science, design, and legal — the tradeoffs live in the modeling and the guardrails, not in a spec you hand off.

  • Set the metrics that prove this is working, and hold the roadmap accountable to them: fewer payroll exceptions, faster completion times, higher retention.

Qualifications

You might be a fit if

  • You have 5+ years in product management and you've shipped in a domain where "mostly right" isn't good enough — payroll, tax, HR, or another high-stakes regulated workflow.

  • You've taken on more scope over time, not just more title, at companies known for technical rigor.

  • You're genuinely comfortable in the details of ML/LLM-powered automation — what a model can be trusted to do unsupervised, what an eval loop is actually telling you, where a data pipeline breaks.

  • You have a technical degree (CS, EE, Statistics, Math) or equivalent depth — you'll be partnering with engineering on system design, not just requirements.

  • You can turn customer pain into an execution plan without waiting for someone to hand you a roadmap, and you move fast in ambiguity.

  • Bonus: you've shipped an automated or agentic product and can point to what it did to trust and quality — not just what it did to velocity.
