At Woodard, this Accountant role is about more than processing invoices and issuing payments. We're looking for someone who understands accounting fundamentals, takes pride in accurate financial information, and knows how to dig into a discrepancy when something doesn't look right.
With a focus on Accounts Payable, you'll reconcile accounts, research and resolve discrepancies, process accounting transactions, support financial close activities, and work across the organization to keep financial information accurate and reliable. You'll also have opportunities to identify process improvements, strengthen financial controls, and contribute to efficient financial operations.
This role requires someone who can balance accuracy with analysis, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively across departments to support the integrity of the company's financial records.
What You'll Do:

Reconcile accounts payable, balance sheet accounts, and related accounting records

Research, investigate, and resolve discrepancies and outstanding issues

Process and review accounts payable transactions while ensuring accuracy, proper accounting treatment, and compliance with company policies

Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities

Maintain accounting schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation

Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain accurate financial records

Maintain vendor tax documentation and assist with annual 1099 reporting requirements

Support audits and help maintain effective accounting controls

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency

Have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes

Take ownership of your work and consistently deliver accurate, reliable results

Enjoy digging into discrepancies and working through issues to resolution

Can analyze information, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions

Stay organized and effectively manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines

Collaborate effectively across the organization while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in all financial matters

Are comfortable using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications to support financial operations

Value continuous improvement and look for opportunities to make processes more effective
What You'll Need:

Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred

2+ years of accounting experience required; experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting preferred

Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered
