Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, other relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 15 years of experience in distributed computing infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering.

  • 10 years of experience building and leading teams.

Google Global Fleet (GGF) is responsible for forecasting, planning, and allocating infrastructure capacity for customers across all of Google. As the leader of Google Global Fleet, Tier -1 you will be responsible for developing capacity planning, forecasting, and allocations systems, with a focus on demand planning and capture for Cloud & our product area-facing retail capacity products. You will work directly with business leaders to provide solutions for short and long term capacity needs, while using AI techniques to rapidly build tools and analytics to increase our capacity delivery velocity for Google’s customers.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $307000 - $427000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Provide execution leadership on software engineering projects (resourcing, prioritization, partner team interlock, scoping).

  • Set the technical, organizational and business strategy in partnership with technical leads and managers, outlining the team charter, 2-3 year deliverables and how this function can deliver Google Global Fleet and Google Global Infrastructure objectives.

  • Contribute to GGF shared mission as part of the leadership team and work collectively to deliver GGF’s top objectives. Evolve and scale key current services and systems to meet current needs and making space for future evolution of our key architecture.

  • Establish team culture focused on engineering/product/operational excellence.

  • Mentor and provide career management, hire and develop technical leaders. Oversee customer engagement and collaboration with strategic partners.
