We are looking for an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to help develop and deliver on a cloud platform to support new and existing workloads. In this role, you will need to be technically capable and able to execute implementation on a high-level cloud architecture. You will also need to have a passion for problem solving and be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other departments within our organization to be successful.

Position Description:

Nightwing is seeking talented Cloud engineers to assist our team with operating, developing, and improving a cloud-based Server/Application infrastructure environment, primarily within AWS GovCloud. We are seeking Cloud engineers with experience working in a rapidly-changing and fast-paced environment. We also support remote work from home (WFH).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provision and manage AWS accounts, including account creation, organizational structure, and governance using Service Control Policies (SCPs)

  • Design, deploy, and maintain multi-account environments using the AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA)

  • Create and manage VPCs, including subnets, routing, security groups, and network connectivity

  • Use and develop scripts using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD pipelines to provision, configure, and secure cloud resources, services, and applications

  • Design, deploy, and maintain applications and services in AWS GovCloud, utilizing Dev/Production environments and leveraging native cloud services

  • Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM), including roles, policies, and least-privilege access controls

  • Configure and maintain cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting using services such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config

  • Implement cloud security and compliance best practices, supporting frameworks and controls relevant to a government cloud environment (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST 800-53)

  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost, performance, and scalability

  • Lead technical projects, working with team members and inter-departmental groups to plan, execute, and deliver new features or capabilities

  • Follow best practices for cloud disaster recovery/business continuity in server, network, and security design

  • Manage cloud-hosted Linux and Windows servers, following best practices for logging, monitoring, and system maintenance

  • Provide expertise and support for IT Operational management of security monitoring, compliance, and auditing tools

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5 Years of Experience in IT (Operations, Security, or Development), or Cloud Engineering

  • 3+ Years of experience running, architecting, and managing services within AWS or another major cloud provider

  • Architecting new services using AWS resources (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, etc.)

  • Creating and managing AWS accounts and VPCs

  • Troubleshooting cloud resources (Load balancers, Autoscaling groups, security groups)

  • Proficiency with AWS multi-account governance, including Service Control Policies (SCPs) and the AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA)

  • Experience with cloud identity and access management (IAM) and applying least-privilege principles

  • 3+ Years of experience with Linux System Administration

  • Familiarization with Windows System Administration

  • 2+ Years of experience with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls) as applied to cloud environments (VPCs, subnets, security groups, cloud routing)

  • Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure and applications (Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Python, Bash, Powershell, etc.)

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and using version control systems to manage source code or IaC

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong sense of accountability to meet work deadlines and support sprint goals

  • A willingness to delve deep into issues coupled with a problem-solving mindset that isn't deterred by setbacks

  • Must be a U.S Citizen

Desired Skills and Experiences

  • Experience within AWS GovCloud

  • Experience with Azure and/or GCP in addition to AWS (multi-cloud experience a plus)

  • Experience developing automated solutions utilizing Terraform, docker-compose, and Helm

  • Experience with cloud-native and containerized applications using Docker and/or Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE)

  • Experience with cloud security and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, CIS Benchmarks)

  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines for delivery and testing of cloud services/applications

  • Professional Certifications such as: AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer, AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Administrator/Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional, Linux+, Security Required Education

Bachelor of Science Degree in a related engineering field; OR 5 additional years of Engineering, Computer or Information Science applicable professional experience in lieu of degree.

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($77,000–$163,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
