Full job description
We Are Route When shoppers hit "buy," a great customer experience doesn’t end, it’s just getting started. For too long, everything after checkout has been the weakest link in ecommerce: confusing tracking, lost or damaged packages, clunky returns, and missed opportunities to turn first-time buyers into lifelong fans. That's why we built Route. Our mission is simple: we create shopper confidence that fuels brand growth. Route is the leading post-purchase platform for modern ecommerce, trusted by over 13,000 brands and protecting more than $20 billion in gross merchandise value to date. From package protection and industry-leading order tracking to returns and exchanges, cash back loyalty, and engaging product recommendations, Route brings every moment after checkout into one powerful platform, empowering shoppers with visibility and peace of mind while giving merchants loyalty that lasts well beyond the first sale. Since launching in 2018, Route has raised over $250 million from leading investors including Craft Ventures, Hedosophia, and Hanaco Ventures, and has grown into a complete post-purchase ecosystem loved by millions of shoppers and the brands they buy from. Throughout that growth, we've stayed committed to building innovative products that empower our customers and to fostering a people-first, values-driven culture that makes Route a place where great work and great people thrive. We're looking for talented people across the ecommerce space to join us on the next chapter of this adventure. Don't just take our word for it, Discover what life at Route has to offer. The team
The Route Product team plays a pivotal role at Route, creating the strategy and roadmaps that empower our Engineering teams to build innovative products for our merchants and consumers. Data and analytics are central to this process, helping turn customer behavior, business performance and product signals into insights that inform strategy, experimentation and decision-making across Route.
The opportunity As a Senior Product Analyst on Route’s Product team, you will be a strategic and analytical partner to the Product team, helping shape product strategy, evaluate opportunities and improve the performance of our products. You will work across complex and sometimes ambiguous questions, bringing together product data, customer behavior and business context to help teams make better decisions. This role combines product analytics, experimentation and analytics engineering. You will own analyses from problem definition through recommendation, develop trusted metrics and data models and help build the analytical foundation that enables teams to move quickly with confidence. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Data Engineering, Finance, Revenue Operations and other cross-functional partners to connect product performance to broader business outcomes.
What you’ll do
- Partner with Product Managers to identify opportunities, evaluate tradeoffs and use data to influence product strategy and roadmap decisions
- Translate ambiguous product and business questions into structured analytical approaches, clear hypotheses and actionable recommendations
- Analyze customer and merchant behavior, product funnels, adoption, retention, conversion and monetization to identify opportunities for product optimization and growth
- Design and evaluate A/B tests, including hypothesis development, metric selection, sample sizing, guardrails and statistical interpretation
- Apply statistical methods to evaluate product performance, isolate root causes and quantify impact
- Define product KPIs and measurement frameworks that connect customer outcomes, product performance and business impact
- Build and maintain scalable analytical data models using SQL and dbt, with a focus on reliable metric definitions, data quality and reusable analytical foundations
- Develop dashboards, reporting and self-service analytics that give teams clear visibility into product and business performance
- Perform deep-dive analyses to understand changes in key metrics, identify root causes and recommend next steps
- Partner with Engineering and Data Engineering on instrumentation, data availability and analytical requirements for new products and features
- Collaborate with Finance, Revenue Operations and other teams to connect product decisions with revenue, operational and financial outcomes
- Apply AI tools thoughtfully across analytics and analytics engineering workflows to accelerate analysis, development, investigation and automation while maintaining rigorous validation of outputs
- Communicate complex analyses clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and help drive alignment around decisions and priorities
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of experience in product analytics, business or operations analytics, or data analytics supporting a product or growth organization
- Strong product and business judgment, with a demonstrated ability to move beyond reporting what happened to explaining why it happened, what it means and what should happen next
- Advanced SQL skills and experience independently working with large, complex datasets
- Strong experience with dbt, data modeling, metric design and modern analytics engineering practices
- Strong foundation in statistics and experimentation, including A/B testing, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, sample sizing and common sources of experimental bias
- Experience defining KPIs and building measurement frameworks for products, features or business initiatives
- Experience using AI tools to improve analytical or analytics engineering workflows, paired with strong judgment around validating and interpreting AI-generated outputs
- Proficiency with Python for analysis, automation or analytical workflows
- Experience building dashboards and reporting in modern BI or product analytics platforms
- Ability to independently structure and solve ambiguous problems while balancing analytical rigor with practical business needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to turn complex findings into clear recommendations
- Proven ability to collaborate and influence across Product, Engineering, Data Engineering, Finance, Revenue Operations and other cross-functional teams
- Experience in ecommerce, marketplaces, payments or another high-volume digital product environment is strongly preferred
