Full job description

The Fusion Center Operations team at Zoox ensures our autonomous vehicle completes missions by leveraging real-time remote human context to navigate complex scenarios. We are a multifaceted team responsible for feature product development and structured testing, and we serve as the operational link between the operations and software departments. You will work closely with leaders in the Fleet Operations organization and interact with multiple teams across the company, including TeleGuidance, PMO, User Experience, and Product. Our Shift/Team Leads are disciplined team players who believe in doing everything it takes to accomplish the mission safely.

As a Fusion Center Operations Shift/Team Lead, you will lead a team of operators (rider operators, teleoperators, and mission control associates) to ensure they understand and execute both short- and long-term targets. Team Leads at Zoox are hands-on, working with & alongside their team daily and leading by example to ensure all software and hardware tests meet Zoox’s high standards. You will be the field expert on tools, features, and functions related to TeleOps workflows, coordinating and streamlining processes that support Fleet Operations at Zoox.

Shift: 3rd shift, 11pm - 8am, Friday - Tuesday or Thursday - Monday

In this role, you will:

  • Uphold a safety-centric, inclusive, and open-communication culture and conduct written and oral performance feedback with direct reports at regular intervals

  • Support Fleet Operations Management through process improvement across safety and efficiency for the team

  • Work closely with other Team Leads and Program/Project Managers within FleetOps to ensure their team stays aligned with Zoox’s overall goals.

  • Become knowledge experts on Zoox’s proprietary software related to TeleOps, Mission Control and Rider Support

  • Interact with contractors assigned to Zoox to answer questions, provide information, and ensure they understand and execute their job assignments

  • Support missions through a wide variety of roles

  • Act as a “player/coach” regularly and as the first point of contact to support service escalations

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality

  • 3+ years of experience as an Instructor or Lead within an operations team in a highly cross-functional environment.

  • Proven ability to problem-solve and improve operational efficiency

  • Experience working in a complex technical environment

  • Proactive mindset and resourcefulness

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and management and explain technical issues

Bonus Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree

  • 3+ years of autonomous vehicle industry or operations experience
