Full job description

Job Summary This role provides leadership across several complex and high-visibility accounting areas, including global lease accounting, IT accounting, share-based compensation, and restructuring. The position partners closely with subsidiaries, IT, corporate leadership, and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with U.S. GAAP. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, strong analytical capability, and the ability to manage deadlines while driving clarity and consistency across corporate accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Global Lease Accounting function, overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; review and approve lease accounting journal entries; monitor and enhance internal controls; proactively escalate and resolve matters with subsidiaries and leased equipment suppliers; and serve as the primary contact for auditor inquiries.
  • Oversee IT Accounting operations, managing close deadlines; reviewing software cost capitalization journal entries; ensuring control effectiveness; partnering with GPC IT to address questions and complex accounting matters; and supporting external audit requirements.
  • Review and provide oversight of share-based compensation accounting, including journal entries, reporting, and analytical review to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and analyze asbestos liability and insurance accounting, including journal entries, financial reporting, and technical accounting memoranda.
  • Review subsidiary restructuring liability rollforwards and support restructuring cost reporting, analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare and review financial statement footnotes related to leases, share-based compensation, asbestos liability/insurance, and Accumulated Other Comprehensive Income (AOCI) to support quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
  • Support broader Corporate Accounting priorities and responsibilities, including reserve and accrual analyses, financial adjustments, budgeting inputs, and forecast support.
  • Provide leadership and development for one direct report

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active CPA license (Preferred)
  • Audit experience
  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft
  • Experience with IBM Planning Analytics
