Full job description

Overview

SRI’s Mission Solutions group provides aircraft survivability equipment (ASE) integration, testing, and support for the U.S. Army. For more than 35 years, our team has developed and tested threat models and mission data packages across a range of Army programs, delivering mission focused capabilities that support the warfighter.

SRI is seeking a Senior Electronic Warfare (EW) Engineer to conduct regional threat analysis in support of U.S. Army aircraft survivability missions. The role includes assessing adversary capabilities, threat systems, and operational trends; determining their potential impact on aircraft and mission operations; and applying those findings to threat models, mission data packages, and ASE testing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning and execution by developing and maintaining project schedules and spend plans. Track expenditure against available funding, forecast future resource needs, monitor milestones, and coordinate with stakeholders to address schedule or budget risks.

  • Attend customer meetings to discuss project status, clarify requirements, and address technical questions. Document decisions and action items, coordinate follow-up with internal teams, and help ensure customer needs are addressed.

  • Develop, maintain, and execute approved aircraft ASE ground test plans and procedures against the applicable system configuration and revision baseline. Verify equipment installation, system interfaces, functional response, and display indications against defined requirements and acceptance criteria; collect and analyze test data; document results and discrepancies; and support fault isolation, corrective action, and regression testing.

  • Verify ASE and mission software versions and configurations following maintenance or system reinstallation. Install approved updates and mission software loads as required, then conduct functional checks to confirm compatibility with the aircraft configuration and assigned mission profile. Evaluate software performance against operational requirements and provide recommendations for updates or changes that could improve system performance and mission effectiveness.

  • Provide pilot/crew training in CONUS and OCONUS classroom and on-aircraft settings, covering aircraft systems, relevant threats, and operational procedures. Coordinate with U.S. embassies, field support representatives, and other supporting organizations to plan and deliver training and related support activities.

  • Lead mechanical design from initial concept through detailed design and production, including requirements analysis, layout development, 3D modeling, material and component selection, tolerance and fit analysis, structural evaluation, prototyping, design reviews, testing, and refinement for, reliability, safety, and performance.

  • Develop and review wiring schematics and mechanical design documentation from the system level through subsystem and assembly levels, defining component layouts, interfaces, connections, and integration requirements.

  • Coordinate with electrical, software, systems, and manufacturing teams to resolve design questions and support system integration. Maintain engineering records, document design and configuration changes, contribute to design reviews, and track technical issues through resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in Physics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related field required

  • Holds an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance or is eligible to obtain and maintain one.

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of relevant experience in electronic warfare, aircraft survivability, threat analysis, or a related field.

  • Ability to analyze aircraft interfaces, including MIL-STD-1553B data buses, Ethernet, power, grounding and bonding, signal wiring, and radio frequency (RF) paths.

  • Experience reviewing interface control documents (ICDs), wiring diagrams, pinouts, aircraft installation drawings, and technical manuals and verify system configurations

  • Proficient in 2D drafting and 3D modeling tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo, including creation and revision of parts, assemblies, layouts, and engineering drawings.

  • Knowledge of engineering drawing practices, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), fits, clearances, and interpretation of technical drawings.

  • Experienced in preparing and reviewing bills of materials (BOMs), interface drawings, assembly drawings, and supporting engineering documentation.

  • Basic programming or data analysis skills using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or C++ to support calculations, test data review, or engineering analysis

The salary range is: $117,000-$147,000. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program. SRI also has a competitive benefits package, to view details please go to https://www.sri.com/resources/benefits/. SRI will accept applications until the position is filled.
