Job Description

Position Summary The Level III In-Process Inspector is responsible for performing dimensional inspections on precision aerospace components to ensure compliance with blueprint, GD&T, and customer requirements. This role uses micrometers, gauges, comparators, and other precision measuring tools to verify critical dimensions and tolerances. The inspector works closely with machinists and production teams to identify and resolve dimensional issues throughout the manufacturing process. Responsibilities include documenting inspection results, supporting first-piece inspections, and helping maintain aerospace quality standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on dimensional inspector with strong GD&T, blueprint reading, and aerospace manufacturing experience.

Day2Day:

  • Perform in-process and first-piece inspections on precision aerospace fittings and machined components, ensuring parts meet blueprint specifications, GD&T requirements, and tight dimensional tolerances.
  • Utilize precision measurement equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges, optical comparators, and surface plate setups to verify critical features and part conformity.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, datum structures, and advanced GD&T callouts to determine pass/fail criteria and identify dimensional issues early in the manufacturing process.
  • Partner closely with machinists, engineers, and production personnel to troubleshoot nonconformances, investigate root causes, and prevent defects from progressing through production.
  • Document inspection results, support AS9102 First Article Inspections and AS9100 quality requirements, and provide timely production approvals, including supporting early-morning setup and first-part validations when needed.

  • Extensive experience using various measuring tools (micrometers, gages, comparator, etc.)
  • Needs to be a true dimensional inspector (Experience using measuring tools, rather than just a visual inspection)
  • In-process inspection experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of AS9102 and AS9100
  • Ability to come in early if needed
