Payroll Manager

Description

We are looking for a Payroll Manager to join a company Baltimore, Maryland on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This position will lead day-to-day payroll operations while supporting key accounting activities tied to payroll reporting and financial accuracy. The role also includes oversight over the payroll team member and close work within the general ledger to help maintain reliable records and reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a workforce, ensuring timely and accurate compensation each pay period.

• Prepare and record payroll-related journal entries and maintain proper documentation to support financial reporting.

• Reconcile payroll bank accounts on a regular basis and resolve discrepancies to keep transactions accurate and up to date.

• Support balance sheet account review by analyzing payroll-related entries and assisting with account reconciliation activities.

• Work within the general ledger to align payroll data with accounting records and improve reporting accuracy.

• Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to payroll staff helping to maintain productivity and quality standards.

• Utilize payroll software to administer payroll activities, maintain employee payroll data, and support routine processing tasks.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to address payroll questions, correct issues, and ensure compliance with established procedures.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience managing full-cycle payroll operations.

• Hands-on experience processing payroll.

• Experience preparing payroll-related journal entries and supporting general ledger activities.

• Strong background in bank reconciliations, including monthly account review and resolution of variances.

• Familiarity with balance sheet account reconciliation and payroll-related financial analysis.

• Prior experience supervising or directing payroll staff is preferred.

• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in payroll and accounting work.
